The Assistant commissioner Health services in charge of malaria control at the ministry of Health Dr. Jimmy Opigo says that malaria kills 5000 people per year in the country, calling for the doubling of the effort towards scaling down the number of people die of malaria.
He disclosed this while at malaria control activities organized by the parliamentary Forum on malaria held at parliament
He says that 15 people are lost everyday and Karamoja Sub region with highest malaria record at 34% compared to others areas.
Speaking to Luuka district Health officer (DHO) DR Christopher Wandera at the celebration of Malaria day which is celebrated at every 25th/April, speaking to Charles Mpooko, urged the people in Luuka district to use well the nets to avoid malria, the function was held at Butinbwa Primary school in Wabuga Subcounty Luuka district
