PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE ON HEALTH, DISAPPROVES BUSIA COVID-19 QUARANTINE
The parliamentary committee on health responsible for corona virus which cause COVID-19 pandemic, have had a rough moment with the Busia District COVID-19 task force together with the District security team, after finding out that the said quarantine at Madibira primary school in Busia municipality, it doesn’t have the minimum standards where covid-19 suspects can be kept, instead it’s a torture center for victims.
The MPs came to realize that the said quarantine have small class rooms which accommodated over 40 people who are even congested , others with their babies, no mattresses , no food, no sanitary services, and even no water for bathing.
These provoked the MP for Kyotera district, Hon: Robina Nsentongo to exchange hot words with the deputy RDC BUSIA, kalikwani Paulo, claiming that the honorable was in sighting the public.
The team of MPs was led by Dr. Micheal Bukenya as the chairman, other members of the committee included honorable Robina Nsentongo MP for Kyotera district, Hon: Edward Nsembatia MP for katikamu south in Luwero district, said that the quarantine center should be a place where people are separated from others and are given measures they require like meals, sanitary facility and where to sleep but surprisingly in Busia District it’s worse because they have initiated a torture center of victims instead
We managed to enter into the said quarantine, we found that over 90 people others from Kenya were just shading tears, saying that they rather be in prison other than being kept at madibira primary school.
They appealed to the government of Uganda to intervene, otherwise the situation is not good for them.
While speaking to the acting DHO Busia District, Wills shongolah, said that the said quarantine was initiated by police but with the health department of Busia district theirs is supposed to be at Dabani girls primary school. .
