The Mufti of Uganda H.E Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has urged all Muslims in Uganda to abide by the guidelines issued on Wednesday by President Yoweri Museveni on the prevention of the deadly Coronavirus. He was speaking yesterday during a press conference held in his office at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala. The Mufti directed that all Mosques remain closed for the period specified by the government, and instructed all Regional and District Kadhis to ensure that this directive is adhered to.

He urged Muslims to hold their daily prayers individually in their respective places of work and residence, noting that this is acceptable in Islam to protect Muslims from danger.“Covid19 is dangerous; it knows no borders or personal status” the Mufti noted. He also called upon Muslims to follow other preventive measures like; hand washing, using sanitizers, avoiding body to body contacts like handshaking and hugging, self quarantine and visiting a health facility if necessary. He called for patience noting that these are temporal measures, and assured Muslims that life will return to normal when the Corona virus threat is contained.
