State Minister for Cooperative, Frederick Ngobi Gume has appealed to all sacco members to desist from fraud and leadership conflicts if they are to progress.
The minister made the remarks while officiating the launch of Iganga Taxi Owners, Driivers and Conductor’s Cooperative Society at Iganga Municipal Council Primary School school.
Others in attendance were officials from Micro Finance Support Centre, RDC Iganga and Bugweri, Eve Nalongo Kwesiga, Abubakari Walubi thee Iganga District NRM chairperson and many Wealth Creation ambassadors.
Gume also the Bulamogi North-West constituency Mp in Kaliro district said that some cooperatives have failed to progress because of frauds and infighting among members.
He also pledged 5million to the cooperative.
The area Resident Distrct Commissioner, Eve Nalongo Kwesiga in her speech expressed concern on high levels of bureaucracy in getting loans from Micro Finance Support Centre which government needs to address to enable people access funds easily.
Abudallah Batambuze, the cooperative chairman on his part, challenged Iganga Municipal Council authorities for tendering Taxi Park to outsiders without first giving them priority as required by law and vowed not to let it go.
