Police in Mayuge is investigating circumstances under which a 17 yr old student Aidah Hafuswa was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend. The two have been class mates in Senior Three at Bunya Secondary School.

Fred Mugabi, the headteacher of Bunya Secondary School, said the deceased was granted permission to leave school on June 16 after she claimed that she was sick.

Three days later, she was summoned by police on charges of theft of a mobile phone, a case the boyfriend, a  one Kabalaasi, had filed.

It is still unclear how Hafuswa met her death but eye-witnesses said after the police incident, she developed quarrels with Kabalaasi which turned violent. She was later found dead in the room she used to rent.

Kabalaasi is said to be on the run.

Hussein Kamaali, the LC III chairperson for Buwaaya sub county faulted parents for negligence questioning how they would have let Hafuswa move into a hostel at her age.

Bashir Siriba the Mayuge District Police Commander said the matter was under investigation and police was on the hunt for the alleged killer.
