Residents of kiwalazi, kazigo and Nakasedere villages in Irongo sub county Luuka district have appealed to government to provide them with insecticides that can kill a new type of pest that has invaded their potato gardens
Refered to as ‘Sundya by locals, the pest has so far spread to most potato gardens in the district particularly Irongo sub county
It only attacks potato leaves just like the armyworm.
Nakasedere farmers led by the LC1 chairperson Patrick Wasiwa say although they have used many types of insecticides to try and get rid of the pest it is resistant thereby calling for government intervention
