Often your regular schedule leaves you with very minimal free time available to explore your love for cooking. But the present lockdown period seems to be the perfect time for you to try your hands on some easy and healthy recipes at home.
My two big challenges whenever I decide to try out a new dish are always finding the right ingredients in the market and most times the spices end up badly damaging my wallet. If like me you enjoy taking on a new kitchen challenge, check out these three healthy recipes that are both nutritious and wallet-friendly. These are healthy meal ideas that can be prepared in just 10 minutes and hey, even health experts approve of these home-made fast foods.
Here are my recommendations. Let’s start with the simplest; avocado toast
The very healthy avocado toast takes about 10 minutes to compile all that nutrition into a single meal and bring it to your table. Although you can eat it whenever you like, The Avocado toast is a typical breakfast meal and here is how to go about it:
Mash a ripe fat-filled avocado and add a little salt, cayenne and chia seeds to it. If you love pepper, it could be a great addition too. Now spread this paste on a toasted slice of sprouted or whole wheat bread. This nutritious recipe is sure to keep your belly full until lunchtime.
My second recommendation is Pancakes! Who doesn’t love pancakes? I know for sure it is a favorite with every age group, isn’t it? Now away from the whole baking process, here is a quick way to turn banana’s into amazing pancakes. Imagine what fun it would be to prepare this easy healthy recipe right at home during this quarantine period and enjoy it with your family!
This healthy meal idea only requires bananas, eggs, and oil (my preference is coconut oil) to prepare fluffy, yummy pancakes in just minutes at home.
What you need to do is mash two bananas with four eggs. Having done so, grease a pan with your favorite oil and pour the batter into the pan and cook for two minutes. Once the pancakes are made, add vanilla extract and or cinnamon. You can even drizzle the dish with a syrup (my recommendation is maple syrup). This is not a must have but helps to makes the pancakes more delicious and attractive. The pancakes also goes really well with straw berries and tomatoes.
Here is my final recommendation; The veggie omelet in a mug. Sounds interesting, isn’t it! What’s even better is that this innovative and healthy recipe can be prepared in just 10 minutes. Except this requires a microwave but if you don’t have one, simply get acquainted with the process so when you visit your friend with a microwave, you could make them this nutritious recipe.
Simply need to add two eggs, chopped green peppers, tomato, salt and spinach to a greased mug. Again, I never add pepper to my dishes except when I have guests who love pepper. If you love pepper, you can add it to the mug as well. Put the contents along with the mug into the microwave for two minutes. Your healthy, hearty, protein-filled breakfast is ready to savor your taste buds and keep you active and energized for hours. Now, this is what we call some real easy healthy recipes.
Overtime I slowed down on posting my food photos because my cooking buddy Kate always thinks my photos are awful. Hey, I may not be the greatest food photographer but even Kate knows that my food always turns out great. She is just bent on criticizing it so she won’t acknowledge that I am the better cook.
For fear of judgment of my photography skills from you too, I download some photos of Avocado toast, pancakes and Veggie Omelet to attach to this article. I hope sometime I can gather the courage to display my food but trust me it’s tastes delicious.
I think you should all try out these very simple and healthy recipes. Please let me know how it turns out when you do. Can’t wait to hear from you.
