As we witness a shrinking space for multinational businesses, continental eye ware retailer Lapaire glasses is set to launch it’s Jinja outlet this Wednesday. Started in 2018 by Jérôme Lapaire in Nairobi, Lapaire glasses has scaled to multiple African countries in both East and West Africa with a presence in Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin and Uganda. The company boasts of its budget-friendly frames and lenses and it hopes to make its affordable services available for as many people as possible.

Lapaire glasses opened its first Ugandan outlet at the beginning of the year in Kampala and has since opened up an upcountry branch in Mbarara and preparations are in high gear to open the Jinja outlet on 9th December 2020.

Even with the biting economic times as a result of the COVID19 economic lockdown, which has seen many businesses closing shop, Lapaire glasses is not deterred by this business reality. According to Roseline Kilonzo, the East Africa expansion manager, the company cannot wait for the business atmosphere to stabilize, they are responding to the vision problems of the people and therefore feel the urgent need to set up a clinic in Jinja to offer budget-friendly and accessible eye care services to the people of Jinja and beyond. She adds that the outlet will offer glasses from as low as 105,000 UGX and also a flexible payment plan to make it as easy as possible for anyone to acquire a pair of frames and glasses. Roseline is confident that their low prices give the new outlet an edge over existing optical service dealers.

The company plans to run a mobile clinic where a team visits other businesses and institutions to test and diagnose different eye conditions which will come on request.
The eye clinic will also offer a diagnosis for the different eye conditions but will only offer sight rectification services. Conditions that require further medication attention will be referred to different eye specialists. If you are interested in non prescription stylish glasses, you too will find an affordable solution at the new Lapaire outlet in town.

Lapaire glasses will be offering free eye check-up to the people of Jinja and Eastern Uganda for the first few weeks of operations in the region.
The eye clinic will be situated next to along the Clive road east next to the Roketelkom office.
