Fishermen have scoffed at government for bringing to light taxes that had been in existence for the last five years.
The Chairman Masese Landing Site in Walukuba-Masese Division in Jinja City, Mr Magumba Majidu in an interview with reporters said that taxes which were highlighted in the government-owned newspaper “The New Vision” of October 20th this year, had been paid by fishermen, but no tangible results could be realised out of their collection.
Mr Magumba, an ardent NRM, said that government was coming up with policies which were like stiffling their development, but later coming up to talk about them after their implementation and negative effects on the local people.
