As preparations for 2021 general elections kicks off, Leaders of persons with disability have revealed to start their elections on 11th January 2021 and they have tasked electoral commission to fulfill the required necessities to them so that the exercise moves on smoothly without any interference.
While addressing media, the representative of PWDS on national council in Uganda and who is also the Jinja district female councilor for persons with disability Fazila Kawuma has noted the much pressure in place now in regard to their members in preparation for elections and where now electoral commission has to organize the sign interpreters, guides who will help the deaf and the blind to vote.
She says that therefore the electoral commission should early up immediately to sensitize the pwds on how this will be carried out so that they avoid issues at the last hour.
She has however appealed to her fellow members to participate in the elections but avoid engaging in areas with much confusion of politics and also to continue following the ministry of health guidelines on the COVID 19 pandemic.
