Under their umbrella body, Association of Secondary School Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU), the educationists have applauded the Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope,IV for introducing Ekigangu kya Busoga on the Kingdom’s annual activity calendar.

“Its public knowledge that schools offer formal education which is a preserve for only those in school however, informal learning is equally important in our current setting. Therefore, the introduction of Ekigangu kya Busoga by the Kyabazinga to nurture the youth culturally as per our norms and values is very timely”, Mpaata said adding that traditionally, proper upbringing of children was domestically done at home which is no longer the case today.

“As people of Busoga, we must ensure that our cultural values are not eroded by the latest technological developments. We must instead cherish our heritage in whatever that we do even when faced with several opportunities to choose from. Our culture should be our first identity”.
