The government has complemented the first phase of condensing the curriculum for both primary and secondary education that will be used by teachers when schools reopen.
The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) was assigned by the Ministry of Education to harmonize all the topics in lower and Upper Primary, Lower Secondary, and A ‘levels to come up with a condensed curriculum.
The NCDC Executive Director, Dr Grace Baguma says the new curriculum is at the 1st draft level with the exercise to be completed later this week.
According to Dr Baguma, they have extracted topics that are core to ensure that once acquired, the learners will be able to cope up with learning at the next level.
The center is slated to invite teachers and experts to review the draft before it’s printed for distribution.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Denis Mugimba says they have dropped some topics in some subjects to enable students to complete what is left in a shorter time.
