Uganda has registered more cases of COVID-19 in the country. Through her official Twitter handle, the Minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng confirmed that four more cases were discovered from 1,989 samples collected yesterday. She said that the four new cases of COVID-19 are Tanzanian truck drivers. From the 1,989 samples tested, 411 were truck drivers. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Uganda now stand at 79, out of these, 46 have recovered and 33 active cases. Uganda has so far carried out a total of 20,329.
The recent cases in Uganda have been discovered from mainly truck drivers coming from the neighboring countries like Kenya and Tanzania. The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni is expected to address the nation on Tuesday 28th April 2020 about the current situation of COVID-19 and advise on more preventive measures, especially in regard to the truck drivers.
