BUSIA: Completion of Busia Main Market delays due to Covid-19 outbreak.

The completion of the Busia main market which is under the Market and Agriculture Trade Improvement Projects(MATIP ) implemented by the Ministry of Local government, might delay due to the out break of Covid-19 pandemic.
The project started in April,2018, and it is supposed to be completed by 30th. Oct. 2020, constructed by Zhanghao Zhangeng joint venture contractors, at a cost of 24.5 billion shillings.
The facility has reached at the 99% time of work and the works progress is at 97%, all this has been caused by the global problem of Covid-19 pandemic, which has made most workers to run away leaving unskilled ones from Busia.
According to the site engineer Luwambo Enock, told this radio in an interview that COVID-19 pandemic has made the number of workers to reduce from 250 to around 99 people, who can’t deliver to the need full.
This has made them to work overtime, in order to catch up with time.
He added that the time allocated to them to complete the facility might not be enough due to COVID-19 pandemic problem.
