The Minister For Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has confirmed that more 21 truck drivers have tested positive for Coronovirus. They are among the 1,593 tests of truck drivers carried out on Thursday 14th May 2020 at the Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Uganda to 160. The recoveries are 63 and 97 active cases.
All the 303 community members tested yesterday were negative, bringing the total number tested of truck drivers and community members to 1,896.
This comes 5 days to the end of the 14 days extension of the lock down given by the President. So many questions are being asked on what should be done about the truck drivers who are increasingly testing positive yet they continue to operate and the community tests are coming out negative but they are under a lock down!
The President’s address in a few days is expected to cater for these crucial concerns from the public.
